Snowshoeing in Winter Wonderland
Ascend above the clouds, fog and rain to the brilliant, sparkling snow scape of Vancouver Island alpine, among the snowiest places on earth. Get some good exercise snowshoeing, make maple toffee in the snow, check out snowflakes with a pocket microscope and feed gray jays out of your hand. After the tour, warm up by the fire in Raven Lodge, sip some hot chocolate, have a sauna or stay for dinner. Time: 3 hours Cost: $50/hour for group. Season: December 15th to April 15th snow conditions permitting.

Do want to get a taste of the forest? Get more deeply aquainted by sampling diverse berries, tangy needles, candy roots, fragrant mushrooms and more secret snacks that will tantilize and exhilarate your tastebuds, freshen your breathe and prevent scurvy. Learn some of the tradional First Nations uses of the plants and how you can incorporate some of the delicasies into your own diet. Time: 2 hours Cost: $100/group of 10 or less Season: all four (less variety in winter)

Getting fit is fun when you hike and run in the forest. Choose your level from brisking walking or nordic walking on flat river trails to heart thumping, thigh burning mountain hiking to exhilarating vistas, flower meadows and alpine lakes with welcome ice water. Time: 2 hours minimum Cost: $100 group of 10 or less. Extra hours: $50/hour Season: all four, alpine hiking becomes snowshoeing in the winter

Blue Rivers, Waterfalls from Paradise Hike for 3 hours or all day along clear blue waters of local rivers and through a diversity of forest types and wetland areas, along salmon streams and view waterfalls and local bird life.
